How to get the support you need.
Everyone needs a bit of help sometimes …
Many parents need help, friendship, advice, emotional or practical support during those early years when children are young.
There is no rulebook for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming, particularly if your family is going through difficult times.
We can give you the support you need when you need it and try to help make your day-to-day family life a bit brighter!
If you have at least one child under five years and live in the MAJIK catchment area you can contact us for support.
Our support is provided by trained and pvg’d volunteers. Our Volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience and have a wide range of skill sets.
They will visit you in your own home, usually once a week for approximately 2-3 hours. You decide what you will do together.
Maybe you need someone to talk to who will not judge you; a shoulder to cry on or perhaps someone to play with or read to your children; maybe a bit of support to make or keep medical appointments or someone to introduce you to local activities for children. You decide.
If you are a parent who would like some help, our “How To Get Help” section will show you what to do next.
How We Can Help!
If you think Home-Start MAJIK could help your family why not find out more? You can either contact your doctor, midwife or health visitor or you can contact us directly. Or complete the referral form and post it to us.
You don’t have to pay for Home-Start MAJIK’S help. It’s non-judgemental and confidential. Our volunteers will respect your privacy and never forget that you have invited them into your home.
You can contact us by email or phone the office.
We look forward to hearing from you. If you do decide to ask for support one of our coordinators, will get together with you, talk about your needs and carefully match you with an available volunteer.
If you are a health visitor, midwife or GP, please find a copy of the referral form here. If you are a local health education worker or a social work practitioner consider discussing a self-referral. Or contact us for more information.
